Markus Stockhausen Group is a band with three instrumentalists: Florian Weber playing piano, Jörg Brinkmann playing cello and Christian Thomé playing percussion. All four are virtuosos and feel perfectly well both in classical and jazz scenery. Their concert in ŁódĽ will show a variety of compositions, including those jazz ones and using electronics to broaden the instruments’ sounds.

Markus Stockhausen — tp, flh, electronics
Born in 1957 in Cologne is a trumpet player and a composer, the son of a composer Karlheinz Stockhausen with whom he co-operated for 25 years. Between 1974-83 he studied at Musikhochschule Köln, where he dived into the magic of piano playing and jazz and classical trumpet.

Stockhausen’s work combines jazz and classical music. His main interests as a trumpet player are improvisation and contemporary music. He works as a soloist and co-operated with many jazz bands Key, Rainer Brüninghaus Group, Aparis, Possible Worlds, and also with the Berlin Philharmonics, Sinfonietta in London, Metropole Orkest, Hamburger Symphoniker and Accordion Orchestra of North America Philharmonics. In 2005 he was awarded with WDR Jazz Award as the best improvisation. He runs courses “Intuitive music and more”. This year he released an album “Far into the stars”.
