“Not even a rock” is a novel by Wiesław Myśliwski and which is thought to be one of the most important pieces in the Polish post-war rural literature. The novel is a lengthy saga about rural life and the countrymen approach to the world. The main character is Szymon Pietruszka, one of the four sons in a poor family, whose fate is a reflection of fate and experiences of Polish countryside in the first half of the 20th century. Pietruszka survived the Nazi occupation, the guerilla movements and the post-war changes. He was a clerk and a policeman, and under the influence of many experiences, he became a philosopher and an astute observer of the world. How to go from riches to rags, but also how to bounce back and become someone really important.

Andrzej Róg is an actor of the STU Theatre, a director, a singer, a member of Loch Camelot Comedian Group. He co-operates with the theatres from Krakow, Tarnów, Łódź, with Grupa Rafała Kmity and St. Norbert Cellar. The audience may recognize him from many film and TV productions. In his adaptation of “Not even a rock”, he concentrates mainly on the issues concerning his own generation of people and young people living here and now. He follows the words of the writer himself: Literature is not just seeking the truth about the world, it is also, if not most of all, seeking the truth about oneself.
