Małgorzata Hutek with Atom String Quartet and Aga Derlak

“The Psalms of David”

Our Lady of Victory Church, ul. Ł±kowa 42

The Book of Psalms is a collection of 12 compositions by Małgorzata Hutek for the lyrics of the Psalms of David. The pieces were arranged for the voice and, piano and jazz string quartet by Nikola Kołodziejczyk — the pianist, composer, arranger, twice the winner of Fryderyk award.

The project of Psalms is a contemporary attempt to interpret pieces written many centuries ago. They are the carriers of man’s experiences, his stories and challenges, victories and failures, doubts and faith. They are rooted in the religious experiences of the Jews, although the Christians also dwell on that. It is the Christian foundation that Polish culture grew from and the text of the Psalms have many times inspired Polish artists throughout the centuries.
